After years of trying to get him, David Byrne, ex-lead of Talking Heads, world music afficienado, bicyclist extraordinaire, designer of killer cool bike racks, NYC Man about town and super collaborator with personal hero Brian Eno, agreed to open the season for Jack Walsh and the good people at Celebrate Brooklyn. It was truly amazing. And it cost $3 suggested donation! You can’t beat that with a stick. Mr. Byrne did a lot of music off of the new album collaboration with Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. Plus a handful of selections from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, their fist collaboration, and a bunch of Talking Heads songs that Eno produced. I was in the front row about 8 feet from Mr. Byrne and his band of dancers and backing musicians. I was blown away by the energy and fun that was going on in front of me while behind me 20,000th people were peeing their pants and freaking out. The main band shell and lawn filled up by 7:30 so they set up huge screens for overflow out into Prospect Park. The place was insane and the crazed crowd lured Mr. Byrne and Co. out for 3 encores. Wow!

The sound on this clip is definitely distorted as I was standing directly in front of a stage speaker, but the image is pretty good. And everyone was wearing tutus!
