Time to Pretend

Ok, so here’s a truly hawt shot of my favourite bettes’ noir, Au Revoir Simone, from the critically cool magazine Death + Taxes. It appears they are roaming Nolita “dressed to kill, but guess who’s dying” (sorry, for the Roxy Music allusion, actually both of them…it’s too hard to resist.) Get Death + Taxes and see the whole shoot from Tom Hines. Wow! They look amazing. Heather should really wear hats more, and I think Annie just photographs better than anyone else, anywhere, ever; and well, what can one even say about Erika? She’s model hawt. And they are about the nicest people to meet as a fan that you can imagine. I’ve talked Kitchen Aide mixers with Annie, Air support touring with Erika and robot remixes with Heather and they have been gracious and cool and overly indulgent to my idiotic fan boy-ness.
The intro to the photo shoot says they should be the pop band in a Truffaut or Goddard film, but I personally think Melville (á la La Samourai) is a better match or Jacque Demy and his Les Parapluies de Cherbourg might be the spot on match for ARS, and it is one of my most favoured movies that breaks me down each and every time. (and it is playing at the Museum of Arts & Design in Manhattan on August 8th & 9th, http://www.madmuseum.org/DO/film%20series.aspx)
