I have collected lots of pictures off of the internets over the years. Never quite knew what to do with them - until now! Now I have a blog, so I can unload all this crap that has been filling the periphery of my head for the past decade or so.
So here is a photo of one of the things I love the most: Libraries! Old, wood paneled, with elaborate old stacks and their very own steeped atmosphere smelling of oils and polishes and hushed human interaction are just the sorts of places I live to get lost in. I have often thought of doing a year long library tour of the planet and go to Venice and Dubrovnik and Milan and Paris and Split and Trieste and Oxford and Cambridge…sigh. Luckily since I live in NYC, there are quite a number of old beautiful and utterly epic libraries in the city itself that are amazing aesthetic monuments to a time ebbed past. Here is a picture of the personal library J.P. Morgan at the Pierpont Morgan Library on 36th and Madison Ave. It is an amazing place - a little known gem that is still popular, but it’s not like going to the Met on a summer weekend. Check them out: http://www.themorgan.org/ The above is a photo of the Librarian’s office! Imagine what the Library itself looks like!
